1. Chicago Bears: QB, Caleb Williams (USC)
No surprise here. Caleb is still number 1 on mock draft 2.0 only surprise is what they got for Justin Fields. None the less, The Bears get the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck. The former Heisman trophy winner lands in a perfect spot after Chicago adds the necessary weapons for him to have an impact in year 1.
2. Washington Commanders: QB, Drake Maye (North Carolina)
With Sam Howell traded to the Seahawks, Washington will be looking in another direction. I had them taking MHJ in 1.0, but in mock draft 2.0 a quarterback makes total sense. Drake Maye is one of the most polished dual threat quarterbacks to come out of college in quite some time.
3. New England Patriots: QB, Jayden Daniels (LSU)
Quarterbacks will go 1,2,3, in this upcoming draft. Theres no surprise the Mac Jones relationship wasn’t working, as the Patriots wish him luck backing up Trevor Lawrence they probably rush up to the podium to draft Heisman trophy winner Jayden Daniels from LSU. With great size and a frame to grow into, he was arguably the best dual threat and most impactful player on any team in college football last season.
4. Arizona Cardinals: WR, Marvin Harison Jr. (Ohio State)
The Arizona Cardinals need the best available WR in the draft and there is no better wideout in this draft than Maserati Marv. I know some are saying this may be Malik Nabers. Arizona on draft night will tell you otherwise.
5. Los Angeles Chargers: WR, Rome Odunze (Washington)
With Keenan Allen and Mike Williams gone the need for WR is evident. Only question here is do they Prefer Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze. In 1.0 I had them taking Rome Odunze, Harbaugh had a great first look at him in the national championship game, but I believe he has speedsters on his team, especially with Quentin Johnston. Going with a big possession guy with good speed and great ball skills is something they get with Rome Odunze.
6. New York Giants: WR, Malik Nabers (LSU)
In 1.0 I had the giants going with the best left tackle in the draft in Joe Alt, but already having Andrew Thomas and signing Jermaine Eluemunor on a two-year deal to play right tackle that need may not be high on the draft board anymore. Giants need a playmaker like Mali Nabers at WR. Nabers is built different, quick release off the line, very explosive, and very productive. His 1,569 yards last season were good for second in the nation behind Rome Odunze.
7. Tennessee Titans: OT, Joe Alt (Notre Dame)
The Titans were tied for third most sacks allowed in the league at 64. They will need a left Tackle like Joe Alt to protect their young quarter back Will Levis for next season and beyond. At 6’9 Joe Alt is not only the tallest offensive tackle in the draft but by far the most athletic and most polished. In 12 games started for the Irish, Joe Alt played 713 Offensive Snaps only one sack allowed and 2 penalties.
8. Atlanta Falcons: DT, Byron Murphy (Texas)
Atlanta went big by landing Kirk Cousins this off season, so the need for a quarterback is no longer there. Drafting Byron Murphey for the interior of that defensive line will be a great pick for Atlanta. Murphey played Nose Tackle at Texas which is a testament to his strength despite his size. His motor, versatility, and freakish athletic ability will make a great addition.
9. Chicago Bears: Edge, Dallas Turner (Alabama)
In 1.0 I had the Bears select a tackle here in Taliese Fuaga, but I think with Darnell Wright and Braxton Jones you have your young tackles that can move forward with. This pick will go to the defensive side of the ball. Dallas Turner has freakish athletic ability in a 6’3 frame, his showing at the combine solidified that. His ability to rush the pass is top tier with 10 sacks this past season, tied for first in the SEC.
10. New York Jets: TE, Brock Bowers (Georgia)
The Jets improved their offensive line and defensive line in free agency by signing guys like Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses, and Javon Kinlaw. Drafting a generational talent at tight end is ideal for Aaron Rodgers and that offense. Bowers has been the best tight end in college football the last two seasons. He will make that offense more dynamic with his skill set.
11. Minnesota Vikings: QB, JJ McCarthy (Michigan)
The Kirk Cousins era in Minnesota has come to an end. Landing Sam Darnold is not the long-term answer here in my opinion. The Vikings could use a cornerback like Quinyon Mitchell, but Drafting a quarterback here makes sense. JJ McCarthy has the leadership qualities, intangibles, and Arm talent to be a good starter at the next level.
12. Denver Broncos: QB, Bo Nix (Oregon)
No Russell Wilson, I was sure the Broncos would try to trade for a quarterback like Justin Fields and look to add a need elsewhere, but Bo Nix will be their guy here at 12. Nix resurgence at Oregon was remarkable. He was one of the most accurate quarterbacks in college at a 71.4 completion percentage and he can get it done on the ground as well.
13. Las Vegas Raiders: OT, Oluuyiwa Fashanu (Penn State)
The Raiders need depth at offensive line. Drafting one of the best left tackles in college football will be an upgrade to that offensive line. An All American, Olu Fashanu boasts great run and pass blocking ability at the next level.
14. New Orleans Saints: DT, Jer’Zhan Newton (Illinois)
In 1.0 I had the saints address the defensive line, particularly at the edge position with Jared Verse due to being 28th in the league in sacks. Since than the Saints landed Chase Young and that may not be atop the list on draft night. Instead, I have the saints adding depth to the defensive tackle position with Jer’Zhan Newton. Newton is a two-time all American and the Big Ten Defensive Player of year last season. A versatile defensive lineman, Newton can be a game changer in the trenches for a unit that was the 6th best team in sack production last season.
15. Indianapolis Colts: CB, Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo)
Indy could use more weapons around Anthony Richardson but I think that will be addressed later in the draft. Quinyon Mitchell adds depth to the defensive backfield. Mitchell is a freak athlete at the cornerback position, running a 4.33 in the forty with a 38-inch vertical at the combine. He can make an immediate impact for the Colts next season.
16. Seattle Seahawks: C, Jackson Powers-Johnson (Oregon)
Seattle needs depth at Guard and center. Jackson Powers-Johnson is the best center in college football and has great versatility to play either center or guard at the next level.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars: CB, Nate Wiggins (Clemson)
Jacksonville had one of the worst secondaries in the league. Giving up the third most yards through the air. Nate Wiggins is incredibly fast with great size for the position. Wiggins is great in cover 3 zone but can adapt to any scheme. Last season Quarterbacks had a 44.4 QBR when targeting Wiggins.
18. Cincinnati Bengals: WR, Brian Thomas (LSU)
I had The Bengals Taking Brock Bowers in my earlier mock draft, but with Bowers off the board The Bengals look to add another weapon to the offense. With Great size and speed (4.33 40-yard dash) Brian Thomas broke out last season in route to 1,177 receiving yards and 17 Tds. Thomas has great separation skills to go along with a quick release to beat press coverage. He has the ability to be a redzone threat as well.
19. Los Angeles Rams: OT, Taliese Fuaga (Oregon State)
With Aaron Donald retiring you would think the Rams would add depth next to Kobie Turner, but drafting Brandon Fiske despite his combine number may seem like a reach here. Adding depth at offensive tackle is a must for the Rams. With 700 snaps in 2023 and no sacks allowed, Taliese Fuaga is a great run blocker that can get to the second level with ease and is versatile to adapt anywhere on the offensive line.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers: OT, Troy Fautanu (Washington)
I had Pittsburgh Drafting Cooper DeJean here in earlier mock drafts, but it makes more sense to draft for more depth here on the offensive line. Almost seems like this is a steal getting a tackle of Troy Fautanu’s caliber, he is excellent in pass protection.
21. Miami Dolphins: OT, JC Latham (Alabama)
Terron Armstead is 32 and JC Latham fills a depth need at Tackle. Adding J.C. Latham, a big athletic tackle, that can eventually grow into the starter in Miami.
22. Philadelphia Eagles: CB, Cooper DeJean (Iowa)
The Eagles have household names in the defensive backfield, they just weren’t all that great down the stretch last season. Cooper DeJean is excellent in press coverage, a very good open field Tackler, and an ace on special teams. No matter where you put him, he can make plays.
23. Minnesota Vikings: CB, Terrion Arnold (Alabama)
Minnesota Acquires this pick from Houston. The Vikings had issues vs the pass. Tied for 4th most yards allowed vs the pass last season. Terrion Arnold slides to due to his poor combine showing but turn on the tape and you’ll see a heck of a football player. Great size, good instincts in press and zone, great ball skills. There is much to like about Arnold’s game.
24. Dallas Cowboys: OT, Amarius Mims (Georgia)
Adding depth at the line seems ideal for Dallas especially after losing Tyron Smith this offseason. Big, Physical, Athletic, and Raw. Those are words that come to mind when it comes to Amarius Mims. Mims has great upside at the tackle position.
25. Green Bay Packers: Edge, Jared Verse (Florida State)
I had them taking Chop Robinson in my earlier mock draft, but with Jared Verse available they can pass on him. Jared Verse has great size and natural instincts as a pass rusher. Tied for 10th in the league in sacks last season, I like adding depth to the edge position.
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Edge, Laiatu Latu (UCLA)
With KJ Britt looking to replace Devin White, I have the Bucs going with the best available edge rusher in the draft. Laiatu Latu had 13 sacks in 2023, he has great versatility whether that is standing up or with his hand in the ground.
27. Arizona Cardinals: C, Zach Frazier (West Virginia)
Arizona needs depth in the interior of that line. Zach Frazier has great depth and can play center or guard at the next level.
28. Buffalo Bills: S, Tyler Nubin (Minnesota)
Buffalo elects to go with depth here at DB, particularly Safety. Tyler Nubin has great size and versatility at the safety position. His speed is not top tier, but he makes up for it with great coverage skills, especially his ability to blanket tight ends effectively.
29. Detroit Lions: CB, T.J. Tampa (Iowa State)
Detroit could use depth at DB, whether that is cornerback or safety. T.J. Tampa is a big corner with great press coverage skills and a very physical tackler vs the run. He has the type of versality to play at safety as well.
30. Baltimore Ravens: WR, Troy Franklin (Oregon)
Baltimore needs to add more weapons in the passing game. Troy Franklin combines great length at 6’3 and good speed (4.41 in the Forty) with excellent playmaking ability.
31. San Fransisco 49ers: CB, Kool-Aid McKinstry (Alabama)
Adding Depth in the defensive backfield is something any team can use. San Fransisco is an already stacked defense. Adding Kool Aid McKinstry to the mix gives them a corner with great size and amazing football IQ as well.
32. Kansas City Chiefs: Edge, Chop Robinson (Penn State)
Kansas City addressed their wide receiver needs by landing Hollywood Brown. Adding depth at edge could be vital for a defense that is looking to 3-peat next season. Chop Robinson has a motor like no other with great athleticism.
